As your Council President, I am working closely with the Atlanta Regional Commission to help develop alternative transit options and solutions to address Atlanta’s growing traffic concerns.
It comes as no surprise to its residents that Atlanta continues to top the list for the worst cities for traffic congestion. Whether you are a resident, a commuter or a company wishing to start or relocate your business, traffic and mobility are always at the forefront of your mind. We can never truly move the city forward when residents are stuck in traffic. To truly have a 21st century city, our residents must be able to easily move about the city.
Atlanta's traffic problems are proof that the city is too dependent on vehicles. We must offer comprehensive transit solutions and alternatives that provide residents with options to move about the city freely, without having to use their vehicles.
The recent influx of road dissolutions, potholes, and sinkholes are huge indicators that our aging infrastructure can no longer be ignored. I will make improving our city streets and roads a priority by implementing long term sustainable solutions to preserving our road frameworks.
The lack of vehicle alternative transit options is a huge barrier to our city’s mobility. To truly alleviate the traffic congestion in our city, we must develop a comprehensive public transportation strategy that offers real transit options to move commuters through the city easily.
