Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) Endorses Ceasar Mitchell for Atlanta Mayor

(ATLANTA, GA) – Today, Edgar Fields, President of the Southeast Council of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), whose membership includes 10,000 men and women in Georgia, announced the union’s endorsement of Ceasar Mitchell for Mayor of Atlanta. This endorsement comes just weeks after the RWDSU hosted its very first Mayoral Forum in the city, where members and community leaders heard from candidates on the issues that matter most to Atlanta voters.

“On the dark and stormy night of the forum there was a bright light that streamed from one candidate at our forum – Ceasar Mitchell,” said Edgar Fields, President of the Southeast Council of the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union (RWDSU). “Ceasar is a third generation Atlantan. The son of a police officer and a school teacher, he knows firsthand the impact decent jobs can have on our communities and he has been a committed member of our city council for years. We know, as he puts it, that he will ‘serve – and I do mean serve’ the people of Atlanta well. We are proud to announce our endorsement of his candidacy today and put the power of the Southeast Council of the RWDSU behind his campaign.”

“I am grateful and honored to receive the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union’s endorsement,” said Ceasar Mitchell, mayoral candidate and Atlanta City Council President. “As Mayor, I will always fight to give a voice to working families. This is a role I have proudly served at City Hall, and one that I will continue on behalf of the people who make our city go.”

The RWDSU endorsement is the latest in Mitchell’s broad and growing coalition of support for his campaign for Mayor.
